Life's a Pitch

Pitches are a common practice in the graphic design industry. But what happens to the designs that didn't win? Why do so many institutions use competitions to commission their work? What conditions are important?

Participating in pitches is a topic that almost all graphic designers have to deal with sooner or later. Especially for young designers, they are an opportunity to prove their skills and get interesting commissions. Unfortunately, taking part in pitches often has its downsides: Little exchange with the clients, lack of transparency and unpaid work are just some of the issues that concern us this year.

Various thematic exhibitions will shed light on the advantages and disadvantages of pitches. Well-organised competitions will be presented and never-implemented ideas will be dug out of the drawer. This year's symposium offers a platform for the personal experiences of renowned designers and invites us to reflect on the culture of competition. In addition, of course, the Newcomer Award will be presented again this year under the motto Look at Me!

We are excited!
