Anna Haas and Dafi Kühne: Analogue Modular Design Systems

Evening Workshop

Date

Tue 1.10.19 / 6pm

Language

German/English

Location

Kunsthalle Luzern

The Weltformat evening workshops, which take place for the first time this year, offer participants the opportunity to get to know certain design techniques. The short sessions offer insight into different methods and the possibility to experiment applying them.

During the Weltformat evening workshops, specific approaches and techniques will be presented to participants. Within a short time, designers will get to know new skills and their areas of application. The possibilities offered by these techniques will be demonstrated, as well as ways of incorporating them into one's own work.

Dafi Kühne is a graphic artist and poster designer with his own printing workshop in Näfels, Glarus. He combines contemporary design with old techniques and works, among other things, with letterpresses from the 60s and traditional wood and metal letters. Anna Haas works as a graphic designer and illustrator in her own studio and teaches at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In 2017 she developed and launched the App Book Cities, a directory for bookstores.

During the workshop with Anna and Dafi, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with a letterpress printing machine and print their own posters. These will be designed with modular, self-cut design systems made of grey cardboard as printing forms. After the workshop, the results will be presented in the exhibition Letterpress Posters at Weltformat Graphic Design Festival.
