Newcomer Award

The theme of the 2018 Weltformat Newcomer Award was Now What?!, this year's festival theme. The jury, consisting of poster designers and representatives of APG|SGA, have received 1230 visual interpretations of the topic, including turning points, journeys with an indeterminate outcome, moments of uncertainty triggered by incisive events and defining experiences – whether political, socio-cultural or personal. Students and young professionals from all over the world have visualised turning points, changes of direction and harbingers of new eras. Different methods and techniques show the diverse approaches of a young generation of visual designers.

The twenty most exciting posters have been selected from the submissions of the 630 participants and will be shown in an exhibition. The winning poster will be presented at 500 locations throughout Switzerland after the festival and will receive an award of CHF 1500. The award ceremony for the winning design will take place during the opening of the festival on September 29th at Neubad.
